Seborrheic keratoses are benign, keratinocytic lesions that appear as elevated lumps with a rough surface. They can appear in a variety of colours including yellow, grey, brown or black. In most cases they look as though they have been “stuck on” to the skin, either with a slight or a marked elevation over the skin surface.
Occasionally melanoma and other skin cancers can appear similar to seborrheic keratosis, so accurate diagnosis is of crucial importance.
